Effectiveness of Islamic Life-Style Training on Marital Burnout, Resiliency and Spiritual Health in Women with Addict Husband

Aim: Addiction has many destructive effects on the family of addict person, specifically his wife. The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of Islamic life-style training on marital burnout, resiliency and spiritual health in women with addict husband.
Method: This study was a quasi-experimental pretest - posttest with control group. The study population was consisted of all women with addict husband in Tehran city at 2019. The sample consisted of 30 (15 for each group) women with addict husband that were selected by as a voluntary and randomly recruits to each of groups. Then, the participants in the experimental group participated in 8 sessions of 90 min of Islamic life-style training, while the control group did not receive any therapy. Instruments for gathering data were Pines' Marital Burnout Scale (1996), Connor & Davidson resiliency Questionnaire (2003) and Spiritual Well-Being Scale from Paloutzian and Ellison (1982). Then, the data were analyzed using SPSS.v21 software and statistical tests such as MANCOVA.
Results: The results of MANCOVA indicate that the Islamic life-style training had significant impact on marital burnout (F=16.331, P=0.011) resiliency (F=12.724, P=0.041) and spiritual health (F=11.850, P=0.021).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, Islamic life-style training improves marital burnout, resiliency and spiritual health in women with addict husband and represents new horizons in clinical interventions and thus could be used as an effective interventional method.  So, it seems that this intervention is an applicable treatment for women with addict husband.
