Aims: In recent years, helping couples to improve their marital relationship has been considered in various methods. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching the components of Islamic lifestyle on couples' adaptability and marital satisfaction.
Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test design with control group, 20 couples, who were referred to counseling centers in 2017, were selected by available sampling method and were divided into experimental and control groups (10 people in each group). The training intervention was conducted in experimental group during eight 2hours-sessions, along with questions and answers. The Spiner’s Marital Adjustment and Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaires were completed by couples one week before and after the intervention, and, one month later to measure durability. The data were analyzed by SPSS software, using independent t test, repeated measure of ANOVA and correlated t test.
Findings: There was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in terms of adaptability (t=3.341; p<0.01) and marital satisfaction (t=2.154; p<0.05) scores in both experimental and control groups. The mean scores of adaptability (F=14.082; p<0.01) and marital satisfaction (F=4.877; p<0.05) in three stages of the test were significantly different.
Conclusion: Training of components of Islamic life style is effective in marital adaptability and marital satisfaction of couples.
