Aims: Adoptive social lifestyle, combined with religious beliefs, is one of the most important determinants of health, and it is necessary for individuals to follow the appropriate model and patterns to promote healthy social life. The aim of this study was to investigate the development of the structural model of religious-based social adjustment by attachment styles to God and religious coping styles by mediating the practice of religious beliefs in students.
Instruments & Methods: The present descriptive study was a path analysis conducted in 2017 The sample consisted of 356 students of Islamic Azad University of Ahvaz, who were selected by multistage sampling. The research instruments were Golzarian’s practice of religious beliefs, Ruth and Patrick’s attachment style to God, Pargament's religious coping style, and Bell's social adjustment questionnaires. The data were analyzed, using Pearson correlation test and structural equation modeling method by AMOS23 and SPSS 23 softwares.
Findings: There was a significant correlation among the safe attachment style to God, the avoidant and ambivalent attachment style to God, the positive and negative coping styles, religious-centered social adjustment, and practice of religious beliefs (p<0.01). The conceptual model had a desired fitness for the target community.
Conclusion: Attachment style to God and religious coping styles are directly related, and through the mediation of the practice of religious beliefs indirectly, have an effective role in the level of religious-based social adjustment of individuals.
